Opening Ceremony M1 Desert Boot

The search term desert boot(s) on Google has all fingers pointing at the classic Desert Boot by Clarks. With a brand that's full of heritage (originated in the 1800s) Clarks deserve all the credits, no doubt about that.. Though, if I was asked to cast my vote for the ultimate desert boot at this point in time Opening Ceremony’s M1 Desert Boot would be the one for me. Opening Ceremony connects emerging American designers with established names from abroad for a lot of their collections. What I like most about the M1 Desert Boot is the simple, minimalistic design, the comfortable-looking flat leather sole and the use of interesting materials like croc skin and pony hair. Whether you own a suede or leather pair of M1’s or a more extravagant version, you just can’t go wrong with these. More pictures below.

John Boultbee Criterion Mk. 1. Jacket

Eye-catching, functional and probably very durable, made out of water- and windproof fabric, great tan colour and a bit preppy. All these features incorporated into the Criterion Mk.1 Jacket make it a very charming jacket that can be worn on many occasions. It will be available in stores early 2011 and I’m officially on the look-out for this one.. More pictures below.

Nom de Guerre: Countdown To Violence

Pseudonyms or fictional names are adopted for safety reasons in all kinds of situations and also during wars some are forced to use them from time to time. The French translation of these war names or names of war is nom de guerre so it wasn’t by surprise that this war theme became a major inspiration for the New York based brand Nom de Guerre. Great way to find a brand name I’d say. Their Fall/Winter 2010 Campaign, Countdown to Violence, is from a while back now but it somehow still fascinates me. Inspired by a surreal novel named 'The Melancholy of Resistance' the campaign is surrounded by and makes great use of darkness in many ways. Everything seemes to be on point: from the setting in which the pictures were taken, to the styling of the models and off course the pieces in the collection itself. Pretty cool to see multiple (new) brands showing interest in military apparel and timeless workwear again. Practicality, functionality and durability is a nice way of describing this style. Combine this with the notion that it makes an outfit look rugged but still very fashionable and there you have it! More pictures below.

Style Icon: The Rosewood Movement

For some time now Kanye West is surrounded by his entourage (in the likes of Virgil Abloh, Don C and Jalil Peraza-Williams) portraying their all new fashion statement called The Rosewood Movement. Their fashion initiative goes further than just rocking the finest designer suits by behaving as true gentlemen at all times. In fact, this Rosewood mentality showcases model-citizen behaviour like pulling chairs out for your lady, avoiding cursing in public and taking care of your kids. Although their suits combined with the requirements of the movement may come across as too formal and hard to keep up on a daily basis, I think it’s nice way to present yourself to the world. More pictures of their dress code below.
